WHAT IS A CLOSET CONSULTATION?

Rachel will come to your closet and ask you a series of questions…

• What is your lifestyle like? Do you work, and if so, what is the appropriate work attire?
• Are you looking for outfits for specific occasions such as a vacation, networking event, conference, fundraiser, interview, etc?
• What is your desired look or personal style? Do you feel Classic, Bohemian, Conservative, Funky, Comfortable?
• What is your comfort level with and confidence in your wardrobe for these categories?
  • Date Night or Night Out With Friends – dinner/shows, etc
  • Lunch Time Look – out for lunch or coffee
  • Comfy Casual – running to the store, hanging out at the house
  • Athletic Gear – Going to the Gym, the Park, Yoga class
  • Work Clothes – what is your work environment in respect to wardrobe?
  • Business Casual – shirts and nice pants or skirts
  • Upscale – power suits, fancy events

STYLES SUITED TO YOUR SHAPE

During the entire process, Rachel will offer advice specific to your body. She’ll consider elements like what hemline is most flattering, what colors are best for your skin, what pant/jean cuts/styles are best for you, what kinds of belts are the most flattering, what tailoring you should pay attention to, and what necklines are most attractive.

MAKING THE MOST OF WHAT YOU HAVE

Rachel will go through your closet with you item by item, separating things that you need to weed out either because the items do not fit into the “look” you are building together or because the item is stained, faded, or pilled.

You will also make a pile together of items you have not worn in the past year or two. The two of you together will determine if it is because the piece doesn’t fit but simply needs tailored, if you just don’t know what to wear with it, or if it has truly seen its better day and needs to be donated.

If any of your articles need to be tailored, Rachel will talk you through options for they it can be updated to suit your body type and style.

If you love a piece but do not know what to wear with it, Rachel will offer suggestions, pulling from items you already own, if possible. If nothing caches her eye, she will offer suggestions as to what could be bought to make a complete outfit.

CONSIDERING EVERY DETAIL

Rachel will take a look at all of your footwear. Do your heels or soles need some love from the shoe repair? Are some of them outdated? Do you have suspected holes in your selection? Rachel will recommend shoe repair (or take them to him herself), weed out unnecessary footwear, and consider what options you might want to welcome into your collection.

Rachel will also look at other accessories weeding out, pairing accessories with outfits you create together, and offer suggestions for updates.

Next the two of you will evaluate the pieces you have in your closet that you do wear and love. Rachel will offer suggestions for mixing and matching, making even more outfits out of what you own. She will also make suggestions of versatile accessories that if purchased will become staples worn with all of your looks.

FOLLOW-UP FEEDBACK

During this entire process Rachel will be taking notes. After your session is complete, she will type all the notes and email them to you. After evaluation, you can then determine whether you want Rachel to shop for you to fill in your wardrobe gaps, whether the two of you are going to shop together, or whether you’re up to the challenge of shopping on your own.

TAKING THE NEW YOU A STEP FURTHER…

After the fresh shopping is complete, Rachel will come back to your closet and pull together as many looks as possible, creating many choices involving mixing and matching what you own. She will take photos of all of these looks so you don’t have to remember a thing. You will then either print out your photos and display them in your closet, or make a file on your computer or phone to reference each time you get dressed, no matter what the occasion.
